An open letter to Brickseek

Dear Brickseek,

I had always liked your site for finding Walmart prices for in store deals, although I don’t use it much for that anymore since it doesn’t work for most in store prices.  Plus, you have always put your information out in a way that made it seem like Walmart knew what you were doing and even condoned it … but it seems that they did not like it and changed things.  Should we really trust you?

So, more recently, I signed up for your supreme dealhunter (or something like that) for $29.99 a month to help me find remodel locations at Dollar General.  This is pretty much the only reason that I really use your site now … for Dollar General pricing.

So, the last response from your customer service stated that you were going to discontinue the pricing records, (and explained that they are not “real time”, which I already know).  Many items were and are already not showing accurate pricing records.  I used these pricing records to get an idea of what pricing was at a previous time.  Since you are scaling down what you offer (for my needs) in the $29.99 membership, I canceled my recurring Paypal payment to you.

Well, I guess that didn’t deter you … I got an email saying that you are still trying to collect payment.  I canceled my Paypal to CANCEL the subscription.  So, I went into my account and chose “cancel” … I got another email today saying that you are still trying to collect payment.  So I went into my account to check.  My membership shows that it will cancel on Dec 18, 2023.  NO! I canceled payment to cancel it at the end of the subscription term.

The last time I had membership with you, before this recent months-long subscription, I was using it for Walmart and you lagged behind things that I found on clearance.  In fact, I took pictures and screenshots and your site showed things I found months prior as “new” deals.  It was extremely inaccurate – with maybe a few fresh deals.

Another change that I have seen is that when I am searching Dollar General, there used to be Dollar General recent deals underneath.  That is also no more.

And, when I actually upped my subscription to the $29.95 membership, the bottom of the screen said that I would get “up to double the amount” of stores that are searched (during an inventory search).  Well, that was a lie.  I have NEVER seen double the amount.  Free membership was 4, the lower priced membership was double or 8, but when having the lower membership the screen said double for $29.95 but only 12 actually are searched.  That is NOT double … that is 50% more.

I read reviews on Reddit and other sites saying how they mention a refund because you are not longer showing Walmart in store prices and they were told that you offer deals at other stores.  Yeah, if I buy an oven, I expect both the top range and the oven to work … not just part of what I bought into.  See where you are wrong … no, I don’t think you do.  Brickseek has gotten so big that they don’t seem to really care about individual customers.  I’d love to hear your side.  Hello?

I am extremely sad at the turn that your site has taken.  I hope you reconsider the discontinuing the pricing records as they were essential in my searches.  I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and see it in your heart to at least listen to your customers.
