Brickseek now has Dollar General

Brickseek now has Dollar General, and can be helpful, but it’s not going to be as beneficial as following sites like our Penny Puss and other specific Dollar General couponing sites for markdowns, clearance, and penny lists.

There are 3 versions of Brickseek.

  • Free version
  • $9.99 Premium subscription
  • $29.99 Extreme subscription

We have no affiliation with Brickseek.

The big advantage that I see with Dollar General on Brickseek that even with the free version, you can put in a UPC code for Dollar General on items that are YMMV and get a better idea of which stores are included.  With the Dollar General app, you can only check the price one store at a time.

One example of this is the Country Time Lemonade on the Summer BBQ list:

Country Time Pink Lemonade 19 oz 043000951149

Go to the Dollar General inventory checker and put in the UPC for that item.

This item is full price at some stores and other stores it is 50% off.  You can find the stores within a few miles of you that are the 50% off stores for this item.

The biggest drawback I see for the $9.99 monthly subscription that it only shows me 6 of the over 30-something Summer BBQ 50% markdowns as deals.  The rest of the list doesn’t show at all.  So, it looks like they only give you a small percentage of the markdowns in the store … not all the new markdowns.

Here is the Dollar General Summer List that we previously posted:

Always verify that you have the right store selected in the Dollar General app when you scan an item as sometimes prices do vary.

Brickseek also might help you figure out which of your local DG’s have the item you are looking for in stock.  But, if you are looking to actually find deals and full lists, Brickseek doesn’t seem to fit that purpose.

Honestly, I am a little dismayed that only 6 of the over 30 items on the BBQ food list show as deals for a $9.99 monthly subscriber.  So they are throttling the amount of deals that they are showing you.  I want to give Brickseek a fair review in regards to using it for Dollar General, but I don’t think it’s going to be highly beneficial.

The Yerbae’s aren’t even showing as a current markdown and we know those went to 15¢ at some stores just yesterday.   Maybe the higher paid membership gets that one first.  But, you can (as I said with the lemonade above) use the Yerbae UPC’s to check Brickseek for which of your local stores did go to 15¢!  So, the more knowledge you have, you can use Brickseek to your advantage.  It may not show you that the Yerbae’s have been reduced, but you can put the UPC codes in to check.

Yerbae UPC’s are in this post:

Yerbae going to 15¢ – YMMV

One additional way that I can see using Brickseek is when we have clearance events.  I think it will help you check your store’s percentages quicker since it shows more than one store at a time.  I guess we will have to test it when the next clearance event comes around!  You will, of course, need to know items that are included in the event to punch in the UPC on Brickseek.

Let us know if you use Brickseek and if you see any additional benefits for using it for Dollar General.

Happy shopping!
