Did Walmart just change their app to make clearance shopping harder?

I have had a few items that I have been watching prices on in my “list” in the Walmart app.  When I checked this morning, one showed a price drop.  So I got ready and headed over to Walmart right around 6 this morning.

I opened the Walmart app to check other prices at Walmart and so many of them were not recognized by the Walmart app.

So, I do believe clearance shopping is going to get harder.  They no longer have scanners in store, so if you don’t have a smart phone, you can’t check prices at all in store.  And now, the app is even less reliable.

The teal 4-quart cooker showed a price of $4 this morning in my Walmart list:

This jumbo skillet as well as the 2-skillet set has been on an end cap for a while showing $8.88.  I would guess that these are part of the college back to school items which I have been saying should be going down soon.  They were $4 this morning.  I scanned the 2-skillet set in store and it did show the price, but now that I am home it is not recognizing the UPC.

I just checked on Brickseek to see if I could check the price by UPC code, but it is showing as “no product found for the UPC you entered”.

  • 6952528109724

Just remember that Brickseek is super super slow.

While you can look up the items by SKU number on Brickseek, you still need the UPC to match in store.

  • Teal 4qt cooker sku=749030674
  • I can’t find the sku for the 2 piece set

Only the teal jumbo cooker was $4 – the red rang up $8.88 at the register.  The red one would not scan in the Walmart app, so I took a chance and took it up with me to see.  Well, nope – it was still $8.88.  So, I had it taken off and put back.

I’m going to have to play around a bit with the Walmart site, the Walmart app, and Brickseek to see if I can come up with a better way to check prices.

Happy shopping!
