Dollar General $1 aisle food remodels that penny

This is just an information post.  I get asked all the time what a $1 food aisle remodel is.

The Dollar General $1 food remodels are when some or most of the $1 aisle food goes to 50% … and ultimately to 1¢ on a “penny” Sunday.  These locations are listed weekly on our website in the FREE remodel location lists with the regular remodel lists and also in the Penny Puss 2.0 app.  These $1 food aisle items may go to a penny during some of the “regular” remodels too.

The $1 food aisle remodels work the same way a remodel does, but it’s only some of the cheap food … and possibly a few other items.  Dollar General seems to be discontinuing most of these items so a lot of them are 10-30% off right now and many are short-dated, if not outdated.  Remember a store can refuse sale on expired food.

Some of these items include the Flow Water, select $1 drinks, select $1 snacks, $1 canned pineapple, and more.

Right now, there are 235 $1 food aisle remodels where select cheap food items are 50% off the clearance price.  These $1 food items should penny at these 235 stores either this following Sunday or another upcoming Sunday (we do not know until Sunday mornings when we check).  All remodels are different and what is included at one store may not be included at the next.

I would not suggest going very far for one of the $1 food aisle remodels.  As I mentioned, some are already on clearance and picked over pretty well.  Also, much of it is not being restocked so you would waste your gas to drive far for a $1 aisle remodel.

Penny items at a remodel may stay a penny for a few weeks before they reset.  Some stores restock the items that are pennies before they reset.  As shoppers, we sometimes find the penny items after stores remodel.  The most recent “previous” remodels are also listed in our Penny Puss 2.0 app.

Some people don’t even like to call these $1 resets “remodels”.  I always separate these from regular remodels by marking them as such “$1 food aisle” on our site and in our app.

Anyway, this post is only to clear up any misinformation out there and explain what a $1 food aisle remodel is.  

And, just FYI, the Ranch Corn Nuts are horrible!
