Dollar General $5 off $25 scenarios for Saturday 10/17/20

These scenarios are valid Saturday 10/17/20 using the $5 off $25 coupon.

I have information below for anyone new to Dollar General.

But a quick reminder to all:

  • Prices may vary.  Scan each item at the store to verify the price and the digital coupon is still attaching correctly.  You need to be at $25 after instant savings, but before coupons for the $5/$25 to deduct.

  • Use these scenarios as is, or mix and match items based on your needs and available coupons. Check out our post with more Dollar General all digital coupon deals  to help build your own scenario or for filler ideas.

Scenario #1

This one uses older digitals you may no longer have, but it helps show how to use high value coupons to get items free or almost free. For example, you may only need razors. But you can get the razors essentially free by buying other items that are free or cheap after coupons.

Scenario #2

This scenario includes an instant savings. Instant savings deduct first. Your subtotal needs to be at least $25 AFTER instant savings, for the $5/$25 to deduct.

In this scenario, we have $2 in instant savings. So our items need to total at least $27 for both the instant savings and $5/$25 to deduct.

Scenario #3

Good deal on some expensive lotions.

Scenario #4

This could be a good deal to split with someone. Maybe you and a friend don’t have a lot of money but both need dog food and treats. You can take advantage of sales and coupons and divide the cost and each take half the items.

Scenario #5

Note, when searching the Polident on the app from home, the digital coupon does not show as attaching. But it did when the product was scanned. That happens occasionally.

Any digital coupon I show in any scenario was confirmed attaching at the time of posting.

Scenario #6

Good deal on baby formula.

Scenario #7

Laundry scenario.

How to use digital coupons at Dollar General:

  • Go to the DG App or DG Coupons on their website and make an account with your email and phone number.
  • “Clip” the coupons to your account.
  • When making a purchase, enter your phone number into the pin pad while the cashier scans your items.
  • Once you have entered your phone number, the cashier can hit total and your digitals will deduct.

If using a $5 off $25 digital coupon, your total needs to be at least $25, BEFORE coupons but AFTER instant savings. Tax does not count toward the $25 total. Hand over any manufacturer paper coupons after digitals have applied.

If using a $5 off $25 paper coupon, have the cashier scan it prior to applying digital coupons. Then enter your phone number for digital coupons to apply. Last, hand over any manufacturer paper coupons.

**Scan items with the app to double check you have the digital coupon clipped and it is still attaching properly.**

*Not everyone will have every digital. You may not have received it. Or you didn’t clip it in time. Or you already used it.

*Prices may vary by location or items may be on clearance. So the price I show may be different than at your store.

*I strongly encourage you to use the DG app to scan items at your store to verify price and coupon is attaching properly.

*Occasionally the app does not show a coupon attaching when scanned from home, but will when scanned at the store. If I have it in a scenario I confirmed it at time of posting.

*Occasionally in your app “list” it will not deduct the $5/$25 coupon for your final cost. It happens to me but it does indeed deduct at the register!

*Digital coupons are one time use!

*Use these scenarios as guides. Mix and Match items you want and have coupons for.
