Dollar General Clearance Event!

If you have been in Dollar General recently, you probably noticed that they are starting to organize and price for the upcoming clearance event!  I think this time clearance will be a little easier to find.  Many times during these events, we don’t know until the last day that something was clearance.

The DG Go App and Dollar General App should both help with this event.  Scan anything that looks a little different.  For example, if all of the “x” brand paper towels are 6=10 rolls and you see one that is 8=11 … scan it to see if it is priced as clearance!  We didn’t have this capability for the last clearance event!

The differences between the 2 apps.

The DG Go App (not available in all stores) shows the price in the store you are physically in.  You must be in the store to use this app for price checking.

The Dollar General App shows the price at the store that you have set as your preferred store.  To check a different store, you must change the preferred store in your app first.  It does not automatically change even if you are in a different store.

The DG Go App not only shows prices, but will let you know if there is a coupon match for that item.  In addition, it also calculates your cart if you scan everything that you are purchasing.  Some stores allow you to pay through the app and others do not.

I would suggest downloading both apps on your phone.  They are both free.

What is really nice is that you can browse the Dollar General App from home!  For instance, you can search paper towels to see if any are marked down during the clearance event.  This will only tell you the price IF the item is available in that store, not the actual inventory of the item.  Remember as I said earlier, you will need to change the preferred store to confirm the price at the other store.  Sometimes prices vary slightly and other times they vary quite a bit by store.

The Dollar General Clearance Event is Friday, Aug 23 through Sunday, Aug 25, and includes these categories:

  • POG Clearance
  • Clearance Section
  • Select ASOTV
  • Swim/Summer Toys
  • Lawn & Garden
  • Green & Red Dot Home
  • Yellow Dot Apparel

So clip all your digitals and get your coupon binders ready!  I know you are all as excited as I am!
