Dollar General Coupon Policy – UPDATE!
Dollar General has a new coupon policy … and, no, this is not rumor. The changes include a limit to the number of identical coupons, a limit to total coupon dollar amount, and a cap on the face value of a coupon.
- There is a limit of 5 identical coupons in a single transaction per household, per day. If the number of identical coupons exeeds this limit, there will be a prompt on the cashier’s screen stating this.
- With the total coupon dollar amount limit, the screen will also prompt to say that this. I do not, however, know what the total limit is … and I think this is ridiculous.
- All non-merchandise coupons will be rejected except for Rug Doctor. The example that they give is “Amazon Gift Card Coupon” and the screen will prompt that this type of coupon is not allowed.
- For the reject single coupons over a certain dollar amount, this seems like you will have to find out at the register. The register will prompt as the coupon exceeds the single coupon limit amount.
So, this sounds about right for DG. I know they are trying to curb abuse, but it’s getting harder to use coupons legitimately for those of us that use them right.
I do not see anything new on the link to Dollar General’s Coupon Policy. The last update looks to be from April of last year. The stores are putting up new signage for the coupon policy at the registers though. I’m thinking they may update the site in the next few days.
Some stores have already begun implementing the changes, but they are now being posted in the stores as the current coupon policy.
We have no affiliation with Dollar General, we are only reporting what has been told to us.
