Dollar General: Ensure Free + Overage!

UPDATE:  I’m not going to delete the post since it’s already up, but I did mess up on a digital coupon.  You can see below what I did wrong.  Also, the Ensure coupon no longer attaches to the singles.  It was definitely legitimate use, but Dollar General can change things at any time … and they do.

Check out this deal I just got at Dollar General!  There are some high-value digital coupons right now for Ensure!  I got this nice little haul for only $1 + tax when I used the Ensure, Coke, and Just Crack an Egg coupons!

If your Dollar General sells single Ensure shakes, then you can get a good deal like this one.

Ensure singles are on sale for $1.50 each and there is a $3 off 1 and a $5 off 2!  (Thank you, Lisa!)

This is what the stand-alone display looks like – in the front of the store.

(3) Ensure $4.50

  • $8 total in digitals

You need to have at least $3.50 to cover your overage!  They are NOT allowed to give you cash back.  So here is what I did.

UPDATE:  The Just Crack an Egg digital requires an “any size egg” purchase.  I am sorry, I missed the wording when I was in the store looking for filler for my overage.  I did not intentionally misuse this coupon, but I did, nonetheless.   If you want to use the coupon correctly and your store sells the 2 pack of boiled eggs for $1, you could grab that.  I don’t know what a dozen of eggs costs at DG.

When I was in the store, I was wondering why I didn’t have the Just Crack an Egg deal in the weekly post … so I went to post it and figured out why I didn’t post it as a hot deal – due to the egg purchase required.

The coupon should not have worked and I should have paid $2 for this haul instead of $1.

(3) Ensure $4.50

(1) Just Crack and Egg $2

(3) Cokes bottles $1.50 each ($4.50)

Subtotal $11.00

  • $3 off 1 Ensure
  • $5 off 2 Ensure
  • $1 off Just Crack an Egg (requires egg purchase, I am sorry that I missed that part)
  • $1 off 3 Coke products

$1 + tax after all digitals!

You can find more “all digital” deals in our weekly post that we try to update daily:

How to use digital coupons at Dollar General:

  • Go to the DG App or DG Coupons on their website and make an account with your email and phone number.
  • “Clip” the coupons to your account.
  • When making a purchase, enter your phone number into the pin pad while the cashier scans your items.
  • Once you have entered your phone number, the cashier can hit total and your digitals will deduct.

Using a $5 off $25 DIGITAL coupon?

  • Subtotal needs to be at least $25, BEFORE coupons but AFTER instant savings. Tax NOT included.
  • Hand over any manufacturer paper coupons after digitals have applied.

Using a $5 off $25 PAPER coupon?

  • Subtotal needs to be at least $25 BEFORE coupons but AFTER instant savings. Tax NOT included.
  • Have cashier scan paper $5/$25 coupon prior to applying digital coupons.
  • Then enter your phone number for digital coupons to apply.
  • Last, hand over any manufacturer paper coupons.

**Scan items with the DG app to verify price and double check that you have the digital coupon clipped, and that it is still attaching properly.**
*Not everyone will have every digital. You may not have received it. Or you didn’t clip it in time. Or you already used it.
*Prices may vary by location or items may be on clearance. So the price I show may be different than at your store.
*Occasionally the app does not show a coupon attaching when scanned from home, but will when scanned at the store. If I have it in a scenario I confirmed it at time of posting.
*Occasionally in your app “list” it will not deduct the $5/$25 coupon for your final cost. It happens to me but it does indeed deduct at the register!
*Digital coupons are one time use!
*$5/$25 (or any DG threshold coupon) deducts a little off each qualifying item. Each of these small increments will total $5 (or whatever your threshold amount is.)
