Dollar General: No more coupon overage!
Dollar General is changing their point of sale system to no longer allow overage with coupons. This is being done store by store and may not be in effect at all stores yet. The previous policy allowed for overage if a coupon exceeded the price of an item, but it had to be applied to the rest of the order. Cash back was not allowed.
As per their current policy, updated last month. Overage will no longer be allowed, but while the systems are being replaced, some coupons may still allow for overage. At no time, however, are they allowed to give cash back to the customer for overage on coupons.

I know there has been a lot of “alarmed response” over the ending of penny shopping too. There is no indication at this time that anything like that will happen. We don’t need to put out a fire that isn’t here yet.
Honestly, the $5 off $25 scenarios are just as good, if not better, than penny shopping because you can get items you actually need at awesome discounts.
