Giant Eagle Clearance and warning when buying weighed items!

Here are some clearance finds at my local Giant Eagle store. This is the Belle Vernon store. Not a lot, but I did get a few really good deals. The clearance area over near the eggs usually isn’t that great, but sometimes there are a few gems. Today, they had the General Mills Drumstick cereal for only $1.00!

I grabbed 1 vanilla and one mint.

There were some little baking cups in a cart over near the clearance that were only 18¢ and 19¢! I got one pack of these.

I also bought a jar of Giant Eagle brand frosting for only 63¢. I wanted to grab a cake mix so my granddaughter and I could make cupcakes, but I forgot the cake mix.

Over in the small cooler in the bakery area, there were some really good deals on butter! The expiration dates were all good too! I bought a couple of the Giant Eagle brand Irish Butter, and one of the spreadable Kerry Irish Butter.

The pie pumpkins were an awesome deal, unfortunately they were priced wrong. But that is actually fortunate for me as Giant Eagle will give you the 1st one FREE if you it rings up a different price than shown. They should have been $1.29 lb, but they were marked $1.29 each! So I ended up getting both for only $1.29 total!

Remember that clearance varies greatly from store to store, but you can always go on GiantEagle.com and check to see the price in your store. Be sure you have your local store selected.

Before I post the last pictures of clearance, I want to show you what I found in the meat department. These two quarter hams are quite different in price. You really need to be aware of how items are priced. These are almost identical in size!

One says just over 2 lbs and the other says just over 4 lbs! They didn’t look like that big of a different, so I took them over to the produce department to weigh them. The one the right that says 4.08 lbs is incorrect.

You can see on the scale that they are pretty close to the same weight. I did tell an employee in the meat department about it. I am sure it was just a mistake, but that’s an expensive mistake!
