Hand Sanitizer … can’t find it anywhere?
With the flu season going on and the uncertainty about the new strain of corona virus, hand sanitizer seems to be completely sold out at most stores … or being sold at ridiculous prices by 3rd party sellers.
If you want to know more about the Coronavirus or Covid-19, go to the CDC website. DO NOT believe memes and other propaganda that you see on social media. Covid-19 is NOT political. It’s a new strain of Coronavirus.

UPDATED: March 6th. There are 2 types of Antibacterial Wet Wipes that are available for order right now from Amazon as the seller. Please note that the prices may change at any time and if Amazon sells out, then a 3rd party seller my be selling them at a different price.

These are NOT in stock for me, but they do say that they will be in stock soon and I can and did order the tropical ones right now. This may vary by location.

Anyway, I went to a few stores this morning to see what I could find. I could not find any hand sanitizer at Walmart or at Lowes, but I did have a little bit of luck at Giant Eagle and Dollar General. Giant Eagle in Belle Vernon seemed to have no big bottles, but they did have the small ones you can clip to your purse or backpack. They are only $1. And, while they are small, you can wash your hands at home, use this only when you are out and do not have access to soap and water.
The only ones I found at Dollar General this morning were $3, but they are cute! They were in a small bin near the register. You can see them in the bottom middle in this picture.
I ran out of time to check Staples or Dollar Tree. But they both are sold out online for the normal size bottles. There are some of the bags that you put in dispensers available on Staples. And, Amazon, has 3rd party sellers selling at outrageous prices.
Also, if you do a quick internet search, you can also make your own, but it seemed that Walmart was also sold out of rubbing alcohol too. I am not posting a recipe as I am not an expert. But if you decide to make your own, check out a few sites and use your best discretion. In fact, here is a good article from USA Today on making your own and expert recommendations:
USA Today Hand Sanitizer Shortage
My husband says people are panicking … I disagree. I think it’s greed and people taking advantage of the situation. Hopefully the companies will increase production and hand sanitizer will become available again soon.
I did not buy any today as I do have 3 purse size. I rarely use it, I just wash my hands every chance that I get. Two of these I bought on clearance recently at Dollar General and the other was given to me free a few weeks back at Giant Eagle for using reusable bags.
Good luck and happy shopping!
