Lowes and Home Depot – Military / Veteran Discounts
Both Lowes and Home Depot have military / veteran discounts that can be used in store or online.
I love this time of year, but I hate the money that I have to spend for gardening supplies. Right now vermiculite is hard to find except for the small bags. I did purchase a couple recently at Lowes. My usual mix for planting is coconut coir, perlite, vermiculite, and worm castings. I am changing it up this year by eliminating the vermiculite since I can only find small bags. I will add a little more perlite to the mix this year.
So, I know that Lowes gives a military and veteran discount online, but I didn’t know that Home Depot had theirs online also.
Lowes 10% off military/veteran discount gives 10% off “most” purchases, with some items excluded. There is no annual cap on the savings. For Lowes, you need to sign up ahead of time and then when you go through checkout at the store, they can put in your phone number. They do check ID to be sure it’s you.

Home Depot also gives 10% off for military/veterans. Sign up is easy, but you must show your QR code in your Home Depot account at the register to get the savings in store.
To use online, log in to your Home Depot account on HomeDepot.com, and the Military Discount will be automatically applied to eligible items during checkout. To use in store, go to your Home Depot account on our mobile app and navigate to the Military Discount page. Scan the QR code during your transaction, and the discount will be applied to eligible items during checkout. The Home Depot Military Discount can only be used on eligible purchases within the $400 maximum annual discount.

We used to have a local feed and garden store, but they closed last year. But even so, a lot of gardening supplies have been hard to get since Covid started and people started gardening more.
Here are some items that may interest you if you want to start or add to your container gardening:
Here are a couple of my stock tanks that I recently covered with garden fabric to plant a little before the last frost:
The tubing is Sharkbite 1/2 inch from Lowes. The parsley was planted last year and made it through the winter.

I am also using my Aerogardens to start plants for my garden this year … and it’s working out great!
Also checkout Aerogarden.com for additional items you may need.
Here are the peppers that I started with my Aerogarden seed starter system:
This is the harvest model and the seed starter kit for this one has 23 spaces. The seed starter kit does come with the peat sponges for your first planting. You have to use your own seeds though. Most of my seeds come from Fruition Seeds, Baker Creek, Experimental Farm Network, and Pinetree.
Here are the peppers that are now out of the Aerogarden and awaiting planting – also the Bounty model Aerogarden that I recently put seeds in to start:
I put in an order at Home Depot online this morning and was happy to find out that I could get a military/veteran discount. It was approved in a matter of minutes and automatically came off my total.
Happy shopping!
