Lowes: Galvanized Stock Tanks Raised Bed Planting $114

Spring is almost here and it’s time to start up those gardens if you haven’t already.  I was looking online this morning for supplies to make a hoop house for a couple of my troughs that I have for gardening … and well, I found a good deal on the troughs themselves.

Over the past few years, I bought a couple of the troughs at a time and have assembled a raised bed garden in my back yard.  I also bought some half whiskey barrels too.  This is my garden, although some of it is hiding behind the lilac bush:

So anyway, the 100 gallon tanks or troughs were $99 each when I started buying them, they are now $159 at Tractor Supply!  But, I found them now at Lowes and they are only $114.  And, if you are eligible for military discount, they are only $102.60!  Lowes hasn’t carried them in the past that I am aware of.  I would love to expand my garden, but I don’t think it’s going to be this year.  If you are in the market for large raised beds for your plants, Lowes seems to be the best price.  Tractor Supply is a different brand than Lowes, but Tractor Supply has sold both brands at one time as I have both and they are pretty much the same.

If you do get these troughs for container gardening, you will need to drill holes in the bottom.  We also have ours on bricks to keep them from holding too much water.

The trough fit in my car, but if you are picking up, you might want to measure first.  If you are interested in planting a garden this year … don’t wait until everything is gone.  That happened to me last year when I wanted to get a couple of whiskey barrel planters.  But,  Walmart got some in at the end of the season and I ended up getting 3 of them for only $20 each on clearance!  I get to add those to my garden this year.
