Misfits Market Review and $15 off code!

This is actually the second time that I ordered from Misfits Market.  The first time was a huge mess and I take part of the blame for that … the shipping was delayed by them AND my address was one number off, so it was delayed a second time by FedEx … and this was in the hot season.  I think you get the idea.

I didn’t know if I really wanted to try again, but organic produce is so hard to find around here, and when I do find it, it’s usually in bad shape.  I will still continue to get my organic lettuce from Walmart as I do like the romaine brand that they sell – it’s usually pretty nice.  Also, regular organic onions, potatoes, various organic apples, and organic celery are usually in stock locally.  This past week, the celery didn’t look too fresh though, so I went ahead and added it to this order.

I don’t want to stop shopping locally altogether because I do think we should shop local.  Just think  if everyone quit buying their organic produce locally … they might quit selling locally.

This is also a nice way to try new things.  I also ordered a fruit box from another company and not a “discount” company and was not as pleased with them as I am with Misfits.  I think I will just stick to Misfits Market for now.  Here is how my order was packed:

And, everything out on the table here.  Some of it is cut off in the back of the picture, but there are more pictures (close ups) below in this post.

It arrived cold and well packed.  I know Misfits has said they have ugly produce, but I didn’t see anything really different than what I’ve seen in the stores.  And, all of the produce that I ordered is ORGANIC!  That is a big plus for me.  The prices were pretty great too!  They also have meat and pantry items that you can order.

I had problems with two items in my order.  The Ghee spray doesn’t work and the bok choy was missing from the order.  I received an extra starfruit, but I assume  that is because 2 of them are a bit overripe.  So I figure they added a third to compensate.  I do not know yet what the resolution will be for my two issues, but I have reported them.  I’m waiting to hear back.

UPDATE:  They refunded the ghee and the bok choy.

While the cauliflower is slightly cheaper at Walmart, it’s not always in stock.  My biggest reason was to get FRESH ORGANIC produce at a reasonable cost and I feel that this service has met my needs.  I did get to pick from select items to get one item for only a penny!

The way it works is that you get a “delivery day” and a few days before that, you get to start choosing your items.  My delivery day is Friday and I get to start choosing Sunday and my cut-off for changes is Tuesday.  I am billed on Wednesday.  You can skip shipments or even cancel until you are ready to order again.  Be aware of cut off dates.

Here is my order – when I say “not available in my area” next to an item on the list, I am saying that the organic version of these items is not available in my local area.

We had sweet potato fries last nice for dinner.  I can’t figure out how to get them crisp … they always seem soggy.  They were good though as I tossed them with olive oil, garlic chili sauce, soy sauce, and a little brown sugar.

If you live in an area that does not have many organic options, you may want to try Misfits Market.  They do also sell meat and pantry items.  I think shipping is extremely reasonable at only $5.50 too!

Happy shopping!
