My small CVS haul yesterday … all free / money makers!
I had two transactions at CVS yesterday and used my previous Extra Bucks to purchase most of it. I had to pay the tax separately though. I am still learning the ins and outs of CVS couponing and have made some mistakes.
If you have a free item coupons such a I did yesterday with the $5 off Revlon or Almay product, you should do that transaction separately, because it can cause problems with other coupons that you are trying to use. I got the small nail clipper shown in the 1st picture – making it free. The cashier did not use the coupon though and she took my Extra Bucks off instead. When I went back in, the coupon was still sitting next to the register and she said that she could give back the coupon. Instead of accepting that answer, I asked her to force print the Extra Bucks I used to pay for it. Thanks to Lisa for letting me know that they can do this.
For my 1st transaction, there were other toothpastes that qualified for a separate $3 coupon, but they were all out of stock. This was still a freebie/money maker.
My second transaction was the Schick Razors:
With CVS, a spend threshold is BEFORE coupons. Also, not everyone gets the same coupons so your deal may not be the same. CVS coupons are stackable with manufacturer coupons, but you have to scan everything that you are buying to be sure that they qualify for each of the deals. Some items seem like they “should” qualify, but they don’t. If you find no coupons for an item but you think there is a coupon, scan again as sometimes there can be an error when scanning.
CVS store coupons also say MFR, but if the coupon can be printed then it is actually a CVS coupon. Most coupons are personalized, except for the manufacturer coupons (these show pictures of the product when you look at them in your app or in your account online).
To earn Extra bucks, you must be at 98% of the qualified total. If you need $10 in select purchases to earn Extra Bucks, then you will need a total of at least $9.80 to earn it.
For CVS coupons (not manufacturer) you need to be at 98% of the coupon to use it. In other words, if you have a $4 off $10, your total must be 98% of the $10 or $9.80 to use that coupon. This gets tricky if you try to combine two dollar off coupons on the same items. If you have (2) $3 off 10 coupons on the same items, you will need $10 for the 1st coupon and $9.80 for the next coupon. So your total will need to be $19.80 to use both coupons.
If you have a coupons that makes an item free, you should do that as a separate transaction as it could mess up other coupons that you are trying to use.
