Pest-free Storage

When ordering my garden seeds this year, I came across this product on True Leaf Market’s website for making an ordinary 5 gallon bucket resistant to pests.  

I was tempted to buy the set of 10, but a few of the reviews had me rethinking that.  Anyway, I got  my lids and they work perfectly!  I ordered a pair of green.

The are called Smart Seal Lids and come in 10 different colors.  The 10 pack is one of each color.

First off, they part that goes on the rim of the bucket is HARD to get on.  We just forced it on side by side then made sure the it all clicked into place.  One of the reviews says to use a mallet and another review says to put the ring on the floor and then push the bucket onto it by forcing your weight onto the bucket. 

So, after getting the lip of the lid on, you just screw the inner part of the lid on to close it.  I am happy with my two buckets and may get a couple of more for other storage.  There are so many uses.  You can store bird seed, garden or microgreen seeds, food, or whatever you might want to keep pests out of.

I purchased the white buckets from Walmart.  They were a pretty good price and they are food-safe!  United Solutions 5 Gallon Round Utility Bucket

Wouldn’t it be terrible to need your emergency food and find that it had been infested by bugs or other pests had eaten it?

Anyway, I think this is a good product and that some of you out there might want to look into. 

I buy my microgreen seeds in bulk from Mumm’s in Canada … and I surely want to protect them, so they will be stored in one of these buckets.
