I am really stoked about trying to grow the Roselle Hibiscus and the Moringa trees. I have limited space, but I am going to plant as much as I can. Hopefully another week and the summer planting can start. It was a cold, foggy, and wet 32 degree when I got up this morning.
I used the $10 off $50 code for my order:

I do not know the expiration dates for the coupons.
Fruition Seeds is also a favorite source of seeds as they are in New York and in the same grow zone. Each vendor varies on the seeds that they offer. One of my all time favorites from Fruition is the Henpecked Collards. These are what I ordered from Fruition:
I grew the Henpecked Collards in my Garden Tower last fall and in my Aerogarden.
I also buy from Experimental Farm Network and Bakers Creek. They all have different offerings.
My asparagus is coming up, but someone seems to be snacking on it … well, tasting it seems to be the right word as it’s not getting eaten, just nibbled.
Peas are starting to break through the soil and I think the calendula has reseeded itself. The parsley is thriving from last year too.
I did move my Jerusalem artichokes from a container to the middle of my garden, but something seems to find those quite palatable too.
I have to think about fencing before I get too far into this. Last year, I was devastated when a couple local groundhogs found my garden to be an easy smorgasbord. I want to divert that before it happens again this year. There was a lot of time and money wasted before I got it under control. Well, as “under control” as I could, anyway. I have found that the animals just chew through the plastic fencing, but if i can put the fence right around a container, they have no space to get in.
This was the first attempt that ended up with just big holes chewed in the fence:
And this is what actually worked. Well, at least against the groundhogs. It really didn’t deter the chipmunks, but they don’t eat as much as the groundhogs.
The photo of my garden is from last year.
I really don’t mind the birds and most of the animals, but the groundhogs devour everything. I like the bunnies hanging out … and my husband likes taking photos of them.
And, here is my Garden Tower (picture from previous year):
My sister gave me my Garden Tower 2 for my birthday a few years back. You put worms and kitchen scraps in the tube down the middle. The worms make the scraps into compost and they can move about the Garden Tower layers freely.
I am also going to try out GreenStalk vertical planters this year:
So, here are some photos (for your enjoyment) that my husband took from previous years in our backyard. He is a much better photographer than I am.
Bee on an onion flower:
Sorry if I get a little carried away with photos that my husband has taken, but I just love them and want to share. I think this cardinal is my all time favorite.
We have a little yard but try to make it inviting for the birds and small wildlife. Gardening and cooking are what I enjoy when I am not looking for deals.
Happy Tuesday!
