Walmart – another app update!

I received a notification on my Walmart app this morning to that there was an update available for the app.  I went ahead and updated my husband’s phone (since he doesn’t have Walmart+) and I wanted to see what the changes were before updating mine.

We decided to go to Walmart this afternnon, but after about 30 minutes in the store, the app just pretty much quit working.  I would scan something and it would give me a screen to verify that I was a person.  Then, after verifying, it would prompt me to log in.

Then it was the verify screen again … then, log in … just over and over.  There was no reason for me to stay at the store as I couldn’t check any prices because unless you have Walmart+, you can’t see real prices most of the time anyway.

Almost everything my husband scanned said that they didn’t sell that item – so the app without paying for Walmart+ is still pretty much useless on finding prices.  I am not sure if they actually changed anything for the better.  I am back home now though … and I reinstalled the Walmart app.  I want to go back to Walmart and see how it works before my Walmart+ free trial ends.  I want to be sure “scan &go” still works before commiting to paying monthly.  I will probably go without my husband this next time though as he really doesn’t like shopping at Walmart.

So, I guess the reason that I am posting this is to let you know that you will most likely need to update your Walmart app before heading out to Walmart, because it may just quit working like mine did.  I live pretty close to Walmart, so it wasn’t a huge deal for me.  If I lived further away and had to update my app while in store, I might be a little pissed.

I still am irked that you have to pay Walmart to readily find out the prices in the store.  Although, I did see a scanner on one pole today that looked new.  Maybe?  Are they reinstalling scanners?  This one was not hooked up yet though.
