Walmart.com Price Accuracy

I have contacted Walmart as well as the Pennsylvania Attorney General in regards to Walmart app pricing compared to what items ring in the store.  I guess today was just the last straw (as they say).  The cashier was frustrated and overwhelmed.  Since they have taken out all the price scanners (at least in our Walmart) and they expect us to use the Walmart app to find prices, then they SHOULD honor the prices!

There is no reason why employees and customers should be stressed out and frustrated over Walmart’s inefficiency in having an accurate way to check prices.  Some cashiers override with no problem and others refuse.  I went to Walmart today because an item in store (grocery) was showing a clearance price.  I did not want to put in a $35 for grocery pickup, so I would have been charged a $5.99 fee.  So, I went in the store to buy the item.  I scanned with the “check a price” in the Walmart app.

This can be found under “services”.  They scanned as 49¢ so I put some in my cart.  Shopped a bit more and went to the checkout.  They rang full price at the register.  I told the cashier that they are scanning 49¢ in my Walmart app.  She scanned with her Walmart app and $1.17.

We went through the whole, “do you have it set at a different store” and other questions.  I showed her my screen said, “Belle Vernon” and showed her while I scanned it and the clearance price.  She said that she couldn’t change it and would have to call someone.  That’s fine with me.  She scanned my other items and no one had come over yet to help her.  I paid and told her that I would go to customer service with the pricing issue.  Just then someone came to help and told her to override the price … then another came over and told her that they were not allowed to override prices anymore.

I am so frustrated with Walmart.  It seems that if you don’t pay for Walmart+ (or get the free-trial) then you don’t even get a price sometimes.  The app tells you that they either don’t carry the item or the item is coming soon.  This all started when they changed their app and forced everyone to update it.

Anyway, I just wanted to suggest reaching out to your state’s Attorney General to see if they can correct this issue.  I always thought that there were price accuracy laws.  I hope to hear back from someone soon.  I will update if and when I do.

Not so happy shopping today … grrrr!
