Aldi $10 off $35 pickup or delivery!

Aldi is now offering pickup and delivery service in select areas.  With this, they also have a coupon available for $10 off $35 off your first 3 orders!  See if your store is participating!

Aldi is partnering with Instacart to bring pickup and delivery to their customers.  This looks like a pretty good deal, I am going to look into placing an order.  There does seem to be a $2 service charge and a delivery charge.  Also, they ask about how much of a tip you want to give the driver.  But still, with the $10 off, I think this is a great deal!  I was hoping to do curbside pickup to save the delivery fee, but it does not look like my local store offers this.

Aldi shopping

Use code SHOPALDI19 to get $10 off $35 on your first 3 orders. You must be a new Instacart customer.  This is a limited time offer.

Let us know about your experience if you order!  I like shopping Aldi for their different cheeses as well as produce.  And, I’m looking forward to placing an order.

Update: I placed my order around 7:30 am for delivery between 10 am and 11 am.  The minimum order seems to be $10, but the delivery fee was $7.99 with that small order.  When I placed my order, the shipping fee reduced to $3.99.  This may vary.

So the $10 off made up for most of the delivery fee and the tip.  I honestly don’t know what you should tip for grocery delivery – I chose 15%.  I’d love to hear from anyone who wants to chime in.  I will update again when my order arrives.

Order arrived:  Everything looks good, except the organic celery, which to me is an Aldi misrepresentation.  It is definitely not celery hearts.  It’s just celery with the leaf ends cut off.  It’s almost all dark green.  But as for the Instacart service, it was exceptional!  Only 1 item was substituted.

Please check back though … as I am going to go to Aldi’s later today and see what the items cost in the store compared to what they cost with Instacart.  I want to see how much extra it really was.

UPDATE on prices in store compared to ordering online.

So, here is the breakdown.  I’m sorry, but I forgot my phone when I went. I was going to turn around and come back home for it, but I figured that I could remember most of the items that I ordered.  I did forget a couple, but this shows you the price differences from online to in store.  Each item was a small increase from the store prices.  The items that I checked added up to an additional $2.76 … and more than that if I would have checked the other few items.

My total in store would have been less than $40.56 depending on the difference on the items that I did not remember to check.  You can check my math … I got 2 of the celery hearts.)

My total was $46.40 … so I paid almost $6 more (and probably more than that if I would have remembered my phone to check the other items).  So, without the coupon, you are paying quite a bit more.  Also, you can choose your tip, but I chose 15% … and that changed with the total changing for my substituted item.

Would I order again?  Only with the coupon.  And you get the $10 off your first 3 orders when you use the code in SHOPALDI19.

The service fee went up too from when I ordered to after the substitution.  I am not sure if that was why or if it was for the Aldi bags.  I would not have bought bags if I went to the store myself.

Also, I received five text messages from them during the process.

The first one was to let me know that she started shopping.  The second was that the tomatoes were substituted.  The third saying it was on the way and the delivery estimate was 10:10 am.  The fourth was that the order would arrive shortly.  And a fifth to view the order changes and leave feedback.
