Dollar General $5 off $25 scenarios for Saturday 9/19

These deals are all valid Saturday 9/19/20 using the $5 off $25 coupon.

I have more info at the bottom for people new to using digital coupons at Dollar General. But a quick reminder to all:

Prices may vary by location or may be unmarked clearance. Scan each item at the store to verify price and if the digital coupon is still attaching properly. You need to be at $25 subtotal before coupons but AFTER INSTANT SAVINGS, for the $5 off $25 to deduct.

Use these scenarios as is, or mix and match items to come up with your own scenario that’s fits your needs and available coupons.  Check out this post of  Dollar General All digital coupon deals   to find great deals to make your own scenario, or for cheap filler items.

The first couple scenarios are great if you need diapers. If you are low on cash, consider splitting a deal with a neighbor or friend that also needs some things to take advantage of the $5/$25.

A great low out of pocket for a lot of items!

This last scenario shows how you can often pay less when you buy more items!  The 35lb bag of dog food would cost $15.95 after $2 digital coupon. That’s a great price on its own. But add a couple items with high value coupons and the $5/$25, and you pay $13.45 for everything. That’s $2.50 less than buying the dog food alone!

How to use digital coupons at Dollar General:

  • Go to the DG App or DG Coupons on their website and make an account with your email and phone number.
  • “Clip” the coupons to your account.
  • When making a purchase, enter your phone number into the pin pad while the cashier scans your items.
  • Once you have entered your phone number, the cashier can hit total and your digitals will deduct.

If using a $5 off $25 digital coupon, your total needs to be at least $25, BEFORE coupons but AFTER instant savings. Tax does not count toward the $25 total. Hand over any manufacturer paper coupons after digitals have applied.

If using a $5 off $25 paper coupon, have the cashier scan it prior to applying digital coupons. Then enter your phone number for digital coupons to apply. Last, hand over any manufacturer paper coupons.
**Scan items with the app to double check you have the digital coupon clipped and it is still attaching properly.**

*Not everyone will have every digital. You may not have received it. Or you didn’t clip it in time. Or you already used it.

*Prices may vary by location or items may be on clearance. So the price I show may be different than at your store.

*I strongly encourage you to use the DG app to scan items at your store to verify price and coupon is attaching properly.

*Occasionally the app does not show a coupon attaching when scanned from home, but will when scanned at the store. If I have it in a scenario I confirmed it at time of posting.

*Occasionally in your app “list” it will not deduct the $5/$25 coupon for your final cost. It happens to me but it does indeed deduct at the register!

*Digital coupons are one time use!

*Use these scenarios as guides. Mix and Match items you want and have coupons for.
