Dollar General ALL DIGITAL coupon scenarios using the $5 off $25 coupon valid Saturday 12/12/20.

I have information at the end of the post for anyone new to Dollar General. But a quick reminder to all:

  • Prices may vary.  Scan each item at the store to verify the price and the digital coupon is still attaching correctly.
  • Your subtotal needs to be at least $25 after instant savings, but before coupons for the $5/$25 to deduct. (Not including tax)
  • Use these scenarios as is, or mix and match items based on your needs and available coupons.

Scenario #1 uses digital coupons that recently came out.

Note: the (2) Tresemme coupons stack on (1) product because one is a store coupon and one is a manufacturer coupon.

Scenario #2 is super low out of pocket.

Note: the Suave digital coupon does not show as attaching in the app, but it does apply when the product is scanned.

Scenario #3 is Great if you need toilet paper.

Note: your subtotal needs to be at least $25 AFTER instant savings deduct!

Scenario #4 is for our furry friends.

This scenario is a good example of using the $5/$25 to add on some “free” items. The dog chow is a good deal on its own, but why not add on an extra coupon item, and pay about the same for everything as you would for only the dog food. You can certainly get your out of pocket even lower if you add on items with higher value coupons.(instead of the cat food)

Scenario #5 is great if you need diapers.

If you are low on cash but need diapers, consider splitting it with a friend. Each pay half and split up the diapers.

How to use digital coupons at Dollar General:

  • Go to the DG App or DG Coupons on their website and make an account with your email and phone number.
  • “Clip” the coupons to your account.
  • When making a purchase, enter your phone number into the pin pad while the cashier scans your items.
  • Once you have entered your phone number, the cashier can hit total and your digitals will deduct.

Using a $5 off $25 DIGITAL coupon?

  • Your total needs to be at least $25, BEFORE coupons but AFTER instant savings.
  • Tax does NOT count toward the $25 total.
  • Hand over any manufacturer paper coupons after digitals have applied.

Using a $5 off $25 PAPER coupon?

  • Total (not including tax needs to be at least $25.
  • Have cashier scan paper $5/$25 coupon prior to applying digital coupons.
  • Then enter your phone number for digital coupons to apply.
  • Last, hand over any manufacturer paper coupons.

**Scan items with the app to verify price,  double check you have the digital coupon clipped,  and it is still attaching properly.**

*Not everyone will have every digital. You may not have received it. Or you didn’t clip it in time. Or you already used it.

*Prices may vary by location or items may be on clearance. So the price I show may be different than at your store.

*I strongly encourage you to use the DG app to scan items at your store to verify price and coupon is attaching properly.

*Occasionally the app does not show a coupon attaching when scanned from home, but will when scanned at the store. If I have it in a scenario I confirmed it at time of posting.

*Occasionally in your app “list” it will not deduct the $5/$25 coupon for your final cost. It happens to me but it does indeed deduct at the register!

*Digital coupons are one time use!

  1. I went to two DG in my area. Both of my totals were above $25. When I enter my Digital Coupons, it took the coupons off first with disqualified me for the 5 off $25.

    1. If you completed the transaction, I can look at your receipt and most likely figure out what happened.
But here are a few common issues.
      1) the $5/$25 deducts a small amount off each item as a “store discount”. These small amounts add up to $5. Check that first to see if you did indeed get the discount.

      2) did you have any instant savings? If so, your total needs to be that much more than $25 to begin with.

      3) are you sure you were at $25 not including tax.

If none of the above address your issue, I would need to see the receipt. You can post it in our Facebook group. Join if you are not a member.
