Dollar General Clearance Event & Penny Finds!

Yesterday (Friday) was the first day of the 3-day clearance event at Dollar General.  This clearance event is only for seasonal merchandise and does not include the clearance section (also called last chance) or the regular core clearance.

When I posted about the clearance event the other day and spot checked the prices, some of the categories were only 25% off, but yesterday all the categories indicated in the clearance event were ringing 50% off and then the extra clearance 50% making them 75% off the original price.

The exception that I found were the soft-side lunch boxes originally $6.  They were scanning at $2.25 which is 25% then extra 50%.  There may be other items like that too.

What is included:

Some items are excluded like grills, coolers, hoses – there may be more exclusions.  Be sure to either scan on the Dollar General App to verify the item is included or keep a good watch at the register.  I grabbed 4 packs of the Crayola modeling clay and a $1 coloring Play Pack and they all rang up a dollar instead of clearance, so I returned them after looking at my receipt.

My granddaughter’s birthday is this weekend, so I got some much needed deals.

Here are most of the items that I bought yesterday:

Tins and baskets are green dot or following green dot.  I think the crate (bin) is following red dot.

The Trueliving 80 qt storage are also unmarked, but seem to be following red dot. (possibly green dot)

The purple dot pillows always seem to follow red dot, I’m not sure why Dollar General hasn’t fixed this over the years.  I went to three Dollar General’s yesterday.  My local one never has much left for seasonal clearance, but I also made the trip worth it by taking some food down to my grandma.  Two stores are on the way.

A lot of the clearance also went during the last clearance event, but I’m hoping to go to a couple stores today.  I’m just planning which stores as I don’t want to waste a lot of gas running around.
