Dollar General Clearance Event starts Friday!
Most of you probably already know that the Dollar General next Dollar General Clearance event is February 7th through the 9th. If you are new to Dollar General Clearance Events, the first thing you will want to do is to get your coupons ready!
Most stores will have an extra 50% off (percentage may vary by store) clearance items and select seasonal (it looks like red dot may be included). My downfall is clipping coupons and getting them organized, but for the Dollar General Clearance Events, it is well worth it to be ready! Clip and organize your coupons and scope out what merchandise is in the clearance aisle as well as what items have orange clearance stickers on the shelves.
UPDATE: If you can’t get our due to snow or other reasons, the clearance 50% off is going on online too! Here are a few screenshots of online clearance:
Unfortunately, you cannot use coupons online.
If you are shopping in store this morning, and did not go out ahead of time to find out the percentage your store will be, you are still in luck. Find a clearance item in your Dollar General app, then add it to your list. You can change the store to see what the price is at your other local stores.
For example, if you search for Snuggle Automatic Air and your store shows $3, then your store is 50%. If your store shows $1.80, then your store is 70% off.
Here is an example of the orange tags you are looking for in store:
Clearance events are great too, because a lot of times they pull the gray bins out of the back for these events … and lots of pennies are found!
With couponing and clearance it’s always, “your mileage may vary” or YMMV. This is just a quick disclaimer saying that the deal or prices or participation may vary and you may not get the same results. Unfortunately, it sometimes works that way.
With all Dollar General Clearance Events it seems that some items will be marked clearance and won’t ring up the extra percentage off. Some stores will override, others will not. If the item has the orange clearance sticker, they “should” override if the price does not come up with the extra percentage.
There is a lot of confusion during these events, as items on clearance may be as low as only 10% off. So, for example, an item that is $1 would be 90¢ on clearance. 50% off that price would make it 45¢.
Occasionally, some stores will have an extra 70% or more … but this is only select stores. So, check your store ahead of time. Take pictures too! Taking pictures especially helps when you want to see if items have coupons available. You can check for coupons in the Coupon Database.
Additionally, you might want to grab a drink and snack if you are going to be out a while. Why pay full price for these items, when with a little bit of planning, you can take them with you.
Clearance events can be frustrating too. Be sure to remember that the cashier is not responsible for how an item rings on the register. We now have the Dollar General App to check prices in real time. See what apps that I recommend. Although, I think the DG Go and Dollar General APP are not combined, I am still hanging onto DG Go.
Another tip: When looking for OTC meds, a lot of times they have them right on their own website. For example, there is a $2 off coupon for the Naphcon A eyedrops on the manufacturers website:
Good luck, everyone!
