Dollar General: Remodel store penny haul!
Oh my gosh! I actually hit a remodel store way back (years ago) – and I got more throw rugs and area rugs than anyone really needs! This remodel haul is a little bit different. It’s actually from 2 remodel stores and there is a 3rd that I am aware of too, but I have other obligations today.
When a Dollar General store is getting close to remodeling, select items start to get marked down. These are store specific and can vary from one remodel store to the next. As the date gets even closer, some items start getting marked down a little quicker. Look for clearance tags for items that are full price in other stores.
Add those items to your Dollar General App and change stores to see if they are different at other stores. You will get the hang of it. Keep these items on your “list” in the app, so that you know when they go down further. Check daily as there are surely other shoppers watching too. When the items go to a penny, BE AT THE STORE WHEN THEY OPEN. There was another couple in the parking lot waiting for the store to open at the 1st store I went to today. We did share a few things between us, but pretty much just shopped on our own. I got coffee makers and some small gray weave bins. Three employees were actively pulling the items from the shelves this morning, so I didn’t get the gift bags that I wanted.

The next store had different items on clearance. The items that I got for a penny at the 1st store were full price at the 2nd store. That is why I said it’s store specific.
There were a couple penny shoppers in this store when I arrived, but I still made out with a nice haul! Command hooks, DG brand hooks, some cleaning supplies, and party stuff. Unfortunately, it looked like they just had a truck arrive (aisles were blocked with roltainers) so I could not check some areas. Also, as I said, I have other obligations today, and was out of time. Here is my 2nd store haul:
I see people in Facebook groups saying that no one will help them with remodel stores and how it works. That is not true. There is NO PENNY LIST for all stores, it is store specific. You have to do your own surveillance to find out if and when the stores are remodeling and then keep an eye on the markdown process.
I had a fun morning! Not sure it was so fun for my husband though!
