Fruit Fly Control – trying this with my fingers crossed!

If you saw my recent Pet Supplies Plus post, you know that I purchased aerator supplies and I said that I do not have and am not getting any fish.  I have been looking for a good fruit fly trap and I think I may have found one.

I grow microgreens occasionally and I wanted to get rid of the fruit flies from the last bananas that I bought.  I thought I would get around to baking some banana walnut bread so I bought some reduced bananas that were already past their prime.  I really should have known better since I have so much going on right now with closing my store and moving everything left into a booth a few towns over.  Plus, it’s clearance event weekend.  Anyway, so I don’t bore you.  This is what I am doing.

I surely don’t want these fruit flies to infest my new planting of microgreens.  The warming pad is not being used, it’s just on the shelf where I grow the microgreens.

Straight up, I’ll tell you that I am not a healthy eater … I try and then some days I don’t try at all.  But, I really do like microgreens.  And speckled pea microgreens are one of my favorites.  They are so easy!

I bought these from a Canadian company in bulk.

Check out: Mumm’s Sprouting Seeds – free shipping on orders over $50.

You can also get some of Mumm’s seeds at Grow Organic, but I don’t think they offer any free shipping deals.

NOTE:  The video also suggests simmering lemon grass oil, but I won’t do that because this is in my house and this oil and many others are toxic to cats and dogs.

Here is the video that I watched for the fruit fly trap:

I think that I should have used a little less dish soap as it is foaming everywhere.

Happy shopping, growing, and eliminating those fruit flies!
