Military / Veteran discount for Dollar General

Dollar General has a military and veteran discount every 2nd Wednesday of the month.  This discount is for active duty, veterans, and dependents.  If you have an ID card, then you should be eligible for this discount.

It is not automatic.  You must sign up and verify your status to receive the monthly coupon.  After receiving the coupon in your Dollar General account, you must clip it before use and put the phone number associated with your account in at the point of sale pin pad located at the register.

Dollar General Military / Veteran Discount

I have noticed in the past that when I am adding items to my cart in the DG app, the discount comes off BEFORE digital coupons, but when I get to the register, the coupon is deducted first.  This might not seem like a big deal to you, but it can make a huge difference in the amount that you pay.

For instance, you have a $5 item with a $4 digital coupon.

$5 – 11% is $4.45, then subtract the $4 coupon, you are at 45¢.

But in reality, this $5 coupon takes the $4 off first making it $1 after coupon, then the 11% off $1 leaves a total of 89¢.

It is a substantial difference if you are using coupons.  Just be aware of this, so you won’t be surprised.  Ordering in the app for pickup may be different.  Also, some DG “store” coupons do not stack with the military DG “store” coupon.

We have no affiliation with Dollar General and they could change things up at any time.

Happy shopping!
