Dollar General Clearance Event Next Weekend!

I have just one word for this … FINALLY!  I can’t believe how long it’s been since we have had a clearance event at Dollar General.  We don’t like to post until we have verified it with at least one store.

We are not affiliated with Dollar General.  And, with that said, Dollar General is famous for mixing things up EVEN sometimes after they tell their stores they are having one.

Also, EVERYTHING at Dollar General is Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV).  In other words, you  may get a different deal than I do or have a different sale.  It is best to check with your local stores to see if they are having the clearance event and at what percentage.

Most stores do 50% off the clearance prices (occasionally you will find a store with a higher percentage).  This clearance event is supposed to be off both seasonal clearance AND core clearance.

Seasonal clearance that should be included this coming weekend are purple dot home (which should be 70% off staring Tuesday) and Memorial Day (which is now at 25% off).  Core clearance is considered items that the store carries all the time but is now being discontinued.  These items can be found on regular shelves with orange clearance stickers or in the “last chance” or “clearance” sections.

If you can’t visit your stores or they don’t know what their percentage will be, you can add a few clearance items in your Dollar General app (in the list).  On Friday morning, check to see what the new price is.

For instance, the Men’s Centrum Gummy Vitamins (UPC 300054866509) are regularly $7.  They are now on clearance (again YMMV) for $6.30.  If you add this to your list and it shows $6.30 on Thursday, when you check Friday morning and it says $3.15, you know that the store you have set in your app is extra 50% off.  If your app shows the price as $1.89, then your store is 70% off clearance!  But, if your list shows $0.00, it is only a glitch that sometimes occurs.  This is why you need to add multiple items to your list, if you want to check the percentage.  Switch stores to see what the next store shows.

If that doesn’t work for you, you can scan a UPC that is clearance in your app from home.  You can either do that from an actual product that you have that is clearance right now at Dollar General, or scan from a computer screen or printed UPC.

This is the UPC for the Centrum Vitamins that are $6.30 right now.

I am hoping that we can get some pictures posted in the group for what is (or might be) included.  I say “might be” as sometimes prices don’t ring correctly.  Some stores will fix them, but others may not.  Remember that your store may not carry the items posted or they may already be sold out.  I really think it’s best before a clearance event to go look at your store a day or so before to get an idea of what might be on clearance.  Also, if you are new to Dollar General shopping, find the clearance section or ask where it is.  Most stores do have at least one clearance area.

Happy shopping!
