I’m sure some of you are forgetful (like me) and maybe leave your coupons on the table when you head to the store.  Well, with Giant Eagle, that is not a problem!  You can take your coupons (and receipt) with you the next time and they will give you the coupon values back to you!

  • The coupons cannot be expired.
  • The coupons must follow their acceptable coupon policy.

Here is their policy (which could change at any time):

Good deals this week Jan 18 – 24 (may vary by location, this is for the Belle Vernon, PA store):

  • 2 for $5 Kraft 6-8 oz shredded cheese
  • 3 for $9 party size Lays, Fritos, Cheetos (must buy 3 to get this price)
  • 3 for $6 Kellogg’s cereal select varieties (must buy 3 to get this price)
  • Giant Eagle lump crab meat 16 oz can $14.99
  • Orange Roughy $7.99 lb (my mom used to make this a lot)

I have a can of the lump crab meat in my refrigerator from the last sale.  For Winter Solstice this year, I made a crab rangoon type filling and put it in phyllo cups.  It was definitely a hit.  My grandma especially liked them.  I got the idea by searching the internet for a way to make crab rangoons without frying them.  These, I put in the air fryer.

I don’t usually make exact recipes unless I am baking.  Cooking is completely different for me.  I look at a bunch of different recipes and see what people are using and then decide how I want mine from that.  One recipe called for sugar … nope.  I think that same one called for mayonnaise … again, nope.  Fresh garlic … nope.  Fresh garlic doesn’t have time to temper in a quick recipe like this.  And, don’t get me wrong, I love garlic, but don’t think it should be overpowering.  It’s all just personal preference.  Maybe a small bit of fresh garlic would have been good … I don’t know.

I think I used 2 bricks of Philadelphia cream cheese (no other cream cheese tastes the same), 1 can lump crab meat (16 oz refrigerated), a splash or two of soy sauce, green onion tops only (from one bunch), some finely chopped red pepper, zest of one lemon, a little garlic powder, and a little onion powder. If you want it more crabby, you could cut it down to only 1 brick of cream cheese.

The phyllo shells are on sale 2 packs for $7 right now at Giant Eagle.  Just fill them and put them in the air fryer.  All the taste … and no oil smell or mess from frying!

This recipe (not really a recipe) is similar to when I made crab stuffed mushrooms a while back.  I added parmesan shreds on top of the mushrooms though.  Not everyone coming to my solstice dinner likes mushrooms though, so I decided on the phyllo cups instead.  The mushrooms are good though!

The 2 pack of Philadelphia cream cheese is on sale for $5.49 right now.  Again, your store may vary by price.

I’m fairly sure that I only used 1 brick of cream cheese for these because 2 bricks would have made way too much … although, crab is my favorite seafood.

Anyway, like always, I have gotten off subject and am completely unorganized … which is why I LOVE the Giant Eagle policy for taking coupons after the purchase.

I still do not like viewing Giant Eagle on my computer though … it is so annoying.  This is what you see … lots of useless space at the top.  It would be a much nicer experience if I could view more on a page.  It actually irks me quite a bit.

Anyway, go get some crab and make something good!

Happy shopping!
